My house being located where it is, on this particular Saturday I find myself caught between the Scylla of fey and loud razamatazz from Boston's Gay Pride Parade on Boylston Street, and the Charybdis of a nostalgic dirge emanating from the "Oldies" 103. FM summer concert along the riverbank. Obviously, with the alternatives being either to be shipwrecked or devoured, I chose to spend the day in Brookline.
Interestingly, as I was taking my morning stroll along the Charles, I noticed a complete lack of rollerblading buffoons along the path which is normally so overcrowded with them; and I wondered whether the absence of persons practising this ludicrous method of transportation on this particular morning could be in any way connected with the Gay Pride Parade taking place elsewhere. Just a thought.
Meanwhile, if she were still alive, my Grandmother would be one hundred years old today. So Happy Birthday Granny! No doubt you are celebrating up there in the World of Light: I wonder what you make of your grandson's website!

I love a man who can make a good, obscure Odyssey reference.
