Stephenesque's Brief History of Ecclesiastical Curiosities
Number Forty-Seven: Pope Priapus II.
Pope Priapus II, formerly Grand Inquisitor of the Sanctumi Scrotumus and Bishop of Bashurs, came to be elected to fill the fisherman's underpants during the scandalous Cardinale Claudia of 1673. A great favorite with the laity, Priapus II was implicated in the Lateran Legge Schism of 1682, a thrusting liberal church movement whose rampant motto, "Get thee to a nunnery", proposed a closer embrace of female clergy.
