I unfortunately ran into an Oktoberfest in the very south of my country last weekend. They had this typical carnaval music (carnaval is a holiday in late winter, celebrating the start of the 40 day fasting until Easter in catholic parts of the world) which is bad enough in itself, but now it was in German as well. This was crossing several lines in one go.

I am stealing "I've never been a joiner" for my epitaph.

and "Weaselkrappen" for my holiday menu.

It’s all part of the localification of everything. But I’ll never h derstand when the globalization begins and the cultural appropriation ends.
