Two words I often confuse are "gregarious" and "egregious." Possibly, being naturally reserved, I subconsciously believe these similar sounding words also ultimately mean the same thing: people cannot be gregarious without being egregiously gregarious. And it gets worse if they are gratuitously egregiously gregarious when greeting others. That level of gregarious egregiousness is regrettable, not to say grotesque. No doubt egregiously gregarious greeters have reservations regarding my reserve, my reverse egregious gregariousness as it were. Will we ever find common ground?
