Yes, the song does indeed succeed in making us sad... but otherwise fails to be any good whatsoever. I quite like it for that reason.

Funny that you should comment while I'm reading Chesterton's biography of St T. Aquinas ($1 on Kindle). No doubt the Anti-Gnostic library contains a proper copy.
